The name
Borrowed from my niece, Itana means dawn or morning light.
The wine
Richly textured and aromatically complex, Itana is made from estate-grown handpicked grapes, barrel fermented with wild yeast in selected French oak, and left on stirred lees for six months. A full-bodied wine, of tropical, savoury and citrus freshness, with a balanced acidity and delicate finish.
The season
Cool and wet conditions during winter and spring delayed budburst to build healthy vine canopies. Summer was dry and warm providing a segue for high energy ripening and meticulous vineyard management. Whites made from wild yeast were highly aromatic, richly complex and texturally divine.
