The name
Derived from a coastal dialect, Su Mar means Mentor or Teacher.
The wine
Elegantly layered and aromatically complex, Su Mar is made from a clonal blend of estate-grown handpicked grapes. It's wild fermented in an open vat, and pressed and aged (12 months) in selected French oak. An alluring wine (of spice, berry, and savoury intensity), with a balanced, silky finish.
The season
The coldest winter for quarter of a century made way for a warm, dry spring. Summer temperatures remained moderate without extreme heatwaves and welcomed pockets of heavy January rain to revive dry vineyards. Reds made were deeply aromatic, rich and beautifully structured.
